July 20, 2016 update:
The Friends of Mineralogy Colorado Chapter, Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, the Friends of the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, and the Denver Region Exploration Geologists’ Society sponsored the now completed 2nd Eugene E. Foord Pegmatite Symposium, July 15 -19, 2016. There were two full days of talks (July 16-17), followed by two days of field trips (July 18-19). The talks were held on the Colorado School of Mines campus, Golden, Colorado. Invited speakers were:
- Dr. David London, University of Oklahoma, author of “Pegmatites”
- Dr. William “Skip” Simmons, Univresity of New Orleans and Maine Gem and Mineral Museum, co-author of “Pegmatology”
- Dr. Michael Wise, Smithsonian Institute researcher, author of numerous pegmatite articles

We thank all the speakers and participants for what was a very successful symposium. We had 128 registrations and 131 attendees in a meeting room that had a maximum capacity of only 149 seats.
